Cody slowly rocked himself back and forth as he sat by Angel's side, one of her hands in his own "Oh Angel, please come back" he whispered "I love you so much."

Angel fought with the darkness around her, desperate to return to Cody.

Cody kissed Angel's hand and softly began to sing, hoping his voice would bring her back to him,

Angel floated past the darkness as her eyes began to flutter open.

"Cody," she whispered.

"Angel?" Cody leaned down and kissed her on the cheek "Come on, come back to me, that's it."

Angel gave a weak moan.

"You sang to me," she smiled.

"I thought I was going to lose you" Cody murmured, cupping Angel's face in his hands and giving her a soft kiss "I was so scared that I'd never get the chance to ask you something very important."

"What is it Cody?" Angel asked softly.

"Angel..." Cody got down on one knee "Will you marry me?"

Angel's heart skipped a beat, her breath caught in her chest, her words caught in the throat, tears rising in her eyes.

Her voice was a mere squeak when she finally spoke. "Yes."

"I love you!" Cody leapt forward and kissed Angel right on the lips "You've made me the happiest man in the world!"

Angel smiled.

"I love you too," Angel said. "Wait til daddy hears about this."

"He won't come after me with a shotgun will he?" Cody pretended to look afraid at the idea

"I doubt it," Angel said. "Considering I already told him if you didn't ask me first I'd ask you."

Cody laughed "Don't be mad" he murmured "But I was listening at the door and I heard you say that. I was going to..to buy the ring tomorrow..." Cody started to cry again, still overwhelmed by how close he'd come to losing his Angel.

"Hey, shhhhhh don't cry," Angel said. "I'm here I'm alright, I'm not going anywhere."

Cody rested his head in Angel's lap and began to relax "I don't ever want to lose you" he whispered "I love you."

"I love you too Cody." Angel said. "I would never leave you like that."

Cody smiled and gave Angel another kiss, happy beyond words that he hadn't lost the love of his life.
