Through Thick and Thin

Hunter winced as he watched the lightning flash outside the window of the hotel room he was sharing with Shawn. Earlier in the evening, before the storm had started, Shawn had left to go to a last minute appearance at a local video store. The event was supposed to have ended three hours ago, but Hunter hadn't worried at first, events of this kind frequently ran way over schedule. However, when the storm really broke and he still hadn't heard anything, then Hunter began to seriously worry. Everyone knew that Shawn was deathly terrified of storms, he always called if there was even a hint of thunder. The storm had been going for at least an hour, and Hunter still hadn't heard one message from Shawn, or from anyone who had seen Shawn for that matter. It was probably nothing, but Hunter decided to go out and look for Shawn regardless, they'd been friends for over twenty years, he'd never forgive himself if anything happened to him.

It was pouring buckets when he ran outside, trying to make his way to the car. Imagine one of those soaking rains where it feels like every inch of your body is being simultaneously drenched and that's pretty much what Hunter was experiencing. He'd almost reached the rental car when he dimly heard a soft moan, barely audible over the driving rain and occasional claps of thunder. Not wanting to abandon someone possibly in trouble, Hunter tracked the sound to the opposite end of the parking lot, not far from where it met the street. The moans had grown louder now, occasionally interspersed with harsh coughing. The voice in Hunter's head told him that this was someone he knew, but he did his best to dismiss that as pure nonsense.....until he glanced between cars and saw what was there on the ground.
Shawn Michaels, his closest friend, practically a brother, was curled up fetal on the asphalt surface of the parking lot, completely drenched and shivering in the soaking rain. That wasn't what really caught Hunter's attention though; it was the fact that Shawn's jeans were bunched around his ankles and soaked in blood that really upset him. Someone....someone very sick.....had RAPED his Shawn....
