Unspoken Fears

"Matt how are we going to move her?" Evan was very worried "If even a mere touch makes her scream...what do we do?"

"Wrap her up in a blanket, that way we're toching the blanket, not her," Matt said.

Evan nodded and very carefully wrapped the little girl in the comforter before slowly picking her up "There you go" he whispered "C'mon Matt, let's go."

Matt nodded, walking close to Evan as he ran a hand through Carra's hair. "It's alright sweetie, were gonna be right there with you," Matt said softly.

Carra moaned and Evan gently shifted his grip so she was in a more comfortable position "It's okay sweetie, hold on now, we're gonna go see Ms. Jenna now."

"You're mad at me...aren't you?" Carra asked weakly, the fight she'd put up before draining what little energy she had.

"No sweetheart we're not" Evan leaned down and kissed Carra as softly as he could "We could never be angry at you, we're just worried because you're sick."

"But...if you're not mad, then why are you taking me back there?" Carra asked. "What did I do?"

"Sweetheart you've done nothing wrong" Evan reassured his sick daughter in a soothing voice "We're only taking you to the hospital so they can help you get better and then you'll be coming home, I promise."

Carra nodded.

"You won't leave?" Carra asked. "Not even for a second?"

"Not even for a nanosecond" Evan grinned "You don't have to worry at all."

"Okay," Carra whispered, drifting off.

With Carra asleep, Evan and Matt, with Melody in tow, hurried to get Carra to the hospital.

"She's gonna be okay.....right?" Melody asked.

"She's going to be just fine" Evan grinned, gently rubbing Carra's head I hope

Melody nodded as Carra moaned a bit in her sleep.

"Shhh, it's alright" Evan whispered "Just relax Carra, you're okay."

Carra didn't respond, all the color drained form her tiny body.

"Carra, sweetie?" Evan gently shook her and then turned to Matt, worried filled eyes imploring his older boyfriend to drive faster. Usually Carra would be kicking and screaming if she needed anything so small as a checkup. For her to be so still like this...something was wrong, terribly wrong.

Carra's eyes opened slowly. Their bright green color severly clouded by a fever induced haze.

"Carra?" Evan was very worried by what he saw "You in there doll?"

"It hurts daddy," Carra's voice was weak whisper. "Make it go away."

"We will sweetie, we will" Evan rubbed Carra soothingly "Just hold on little one, it'll be alright."

"Wanna go back to bed," Carra muttered. "Wanna sleep."
