First Day on a Brand New Planet

"Daddy?" Angel said softly, her eyes still shut.

Cody had never seen the Heartbreak Kid this close to tears "Yeah sweetie, I'm here" Shawn took his daughter's hand and looked at Cody "What happened?"

"I saw her standing in the hallway, she looked pale, and the next thing I know she's hyperventilating and passing out!" Cody looked at Angel worriedly "I was worried I didn't get her here in time."

Angel moaned.

"I'm alright, I'm okay really," Angel said. "Where were you?"

"Oh..." Shawn blushed crimson "Hunter was holding me up with some stupid stuff...sweetheart I'm so sorry, can you please forgive me?"

"You PROMISED me," Angel said, her eyes like stone.

"Sweetheart I know..." Shawn's voice trailed off and he looked totally ashamed of himself. Wanting to help, Cody stepped forward and whispered in Angel's ear; "Be mad at Hunter not him, it's Hunter's fault your father wasn't there, he'd kill for you!"

Angel simply nodded.

"Next week?" Angel asked.

Shawn smiled "You got it" he turned and nodded to Cody "Thanks"

Angel smiled.

"I owe you my life Cody," Angel said.

"It was no problem..." Cody waited until Shawn had left before he murmured "Would...I mean, are you doing anything after the show ends?"

"I wasn't planning on it," Angel answered. "Why?"

"Would you like to get some dinner with me?" Cody's eyes were shining with hope.

Angel smiled, her big blue eyes bright.

"I'd love to," Angel said.

"Great!" Cody's smile couldn't have been any wider "Shall we meet by the door in, say...an hour?"

"Sounds great," Angel said, her signature Michaels smile wide.
