Take the Pain Away

"Mike, baby if you're sick then you need to have someone check you out," John said.

"I'm not sick" Mike muttered, driving back to the hotel "Now you're the one worrying too much."

"Alright, alright, I'm not going to push you about it," John said. "but if it gets any worse, you tell me, alright?"

"Sure, sure" Mike brushed John's concerns away, he was fine, it was just a cough.

John smiled. "You know I only worry cause I care baby," John said.

"I know" Mike whispered, coughing again as he got out and shouldered his bag, slowing when he felt a tightness in his chest "John..."

John stopped. "What is it baby?" John asked.

"My chest hurts..." Mike was noticeably wheezing "It hurts a lot."

"Come, on let's get you inside, then we'll go from there, okay?" John said.

"Okay..." Mike followed his boyfriend inside, wincing in pain as he continued to cough "Baby I'm sorry I tried to hide this from you, I was so worried about you..."

"Shhhh, it's alright, just relax baby," John said.

Mike's breath caught in his throat and the ensuing coughing fit made him bend over in pain

John pulled Mike close, rubbing his back.

"Easy baby easy," John said.

"I need to lay down" Mike whispered, making a beeline for the bed "It hurts so much..."

John nodded, easing Mike toward the bed.

"Just rest baby, I'm gonna go make a call," John said.

Laying on his back on the bed, Mike struggled to breathe as all the phlegm collected in his lungs,

"J..John..." he choked out, gasping for breath "JOHN!!!"

John walked back into the room.

"It's gonna be alright, I've got a doctor on the way here," John said.

"J..John...." Mike could barely draw breath "I can't breathe...turn me over..."

"Easy baby, it's alright," John said, moving Mike slowly.

Mike moaned and began to cough deeply, each barking sound echoing in his chest

"It'll be okay baby," John said softly, sitting down on the bed and pulling Mike into his arms.

Mike whimpered in John's arms, his chest hurt so much...

"You're gonna be alright, I'm gonna make sure of that baby," John said.

Mike nodded weakly, his throat too raw for talking.

"Rest baby, I'll wake you when she gets here," John said.
