Sweet Misery

Cody groaned even louder and he managed to open his eyes, turning to stare at his fiancee "B..baby?" he whispered hoarsely "O..our...baby...?"

Angel nodded, a smile creeping across her face.

"I'm pregnant Cody," Angel said softly.

Though still very sick, Cody managed to crack a smile and he glanced at Angel's stomach where their child was growing "A baby...." he whispered, seemingly in awe "Oh Angel..."

"I'm two months along," Angel said. "Almost three."

"I'm going to be a father..." Cody leaned back and stared up at the ceiling "Me...a father..."

"I know," Angel said softly. "You said you didn't want kids."

"Angel..." Cody was exhausted and his voice was growing weak "Listen...to...me...." he gulped and took a breath "I'll...still...be with...you...." his eyes were shining from a mixture of tears and the fever "I...want...to try...having...a family..." He began to pant, eyes growing heavy

Angel smiled.

"We aren't going to have anything if you don't get better baby," Angel said. "Just relax, I'm not going anywhere."

Cody nodded and slowly went back to sleep, still holding Angel's hand, a peaceful smile on his face.
