Will He Ever Learn?

Jenna smiled. "Of course," Jenna said. "I'll be right out."

Chris parked and helped Jeff out of the car "Jenna will be here in a minute he murmured" catching sight of his sister hurrying towards them "It'll be alright Jeffro, I promise."

"Hey Jeffro," Jenna said putting an arm around him. "It's alright, we've got you."

Chris fished out his cell phone while he helped Jenna take Jeff inside and called Matt "Hey just wanted to let you know we're at the hospital" he listened and nodded quickly "Yes he'd like it very much if you were here. Alright, see you soon." He hung up and kissed Jeff gently on the cheek "You still in there baby?"

Jeff nodded weakly.

Jenna was able to get Jeff into a room right away. Sure enough, a quick examination revealed what everyone had suspected: Jeff's tonsils were acutely inflamed and had to be removed right away.

Jeff;s eyes went wide and the first thought in his head was "I gotta get outta here"

Chris could see the panic growing in Jeff's eyes "Sweetie it'll be alright" he whispered "I promise, I'll be right by your side, remember?"

"No," Jeff said. "Can't do that, can't go in there."

"Jeff you've GOT to!" Chris' voice was as firm as iron "Please sweetheart, you'll feel better as soon as it's over."

"No!" Jeff's attempt at rasing his voice fail miserably as he tried to get out of the bed.

"Jeff no!" Chris forced his boyfriend back down onto the bed "I'm not going to let you hurt yourself like this!"

"Chris," Jeff pleaded, trying to squirm away from his boyfriend's grasp. "Let me go!"

"No Jeff!" Chris finally managed to wrest the younger man down and then sat on top of him "I swore to you when we first got together that I'd always take care of you and so help me that's what I'm going to do, I don't care if you hate me for the rest of your life!"

"You WANT me to die don't you?!" Jeff said, there was look of pain mixed with terror in his eyes.

Chris' bright blue eyes filled with tears "Jeff you KNOW I don't want anything like that!" he wiped his eyes and stroked Jeff's hair "I know you're scared, but it's going to be alright, I promise you."

"Please Chrissy, just take me home, I'll die if I go in there," Jeff sniffled. "Please baby?"

Chris shook his head "No Jeff, if I take you home you most likely will die, you need to stay here so you can get better."

"Jeff," a voice spoke from the doorway.

"Mattie?" Jeff asked, too weak to lok toward the door.

Matt walked to the other side of his brother's bed and took his hand. "I'm here Jeffro, I'm here."

"I'm scared Mattie, you remember what happened last time I went in there don't you?" Jeff asked, whimpering.

"Yeah, I remember Jeffro, but it's gonna be alright, me and Chris are gonna be right there with you," Matt said.

Thank God for Matt Hardy Chris prayed over and over again "You see Jeffro? You're in safe hands, please let them operate on you. For us?"

Jeff bit his lip and looked at Matt.

"It's okay Jeffro," Matt said, squeezing Jeff's hand a little. He leaned down a little and whispered in Jeff's ear. "Do it for momma," Matt whispered.

Jeff nodded. "O-Okay," Jeff said nervously. "Okay."
