Need You Now

Adam chuckled softly, looking down at the younger man in his arms.

"Jay, wake up sleepyhead," Adam whispered.

Jay still didn't move, but he did moan softly, as if he was in pain

"Jay?" Adam asked softly, worry thick in his voice. He placed a gentle hand on the younger man's forehead and sighed. "Baby, I got you sick now."

"Wha..." Jay finally stirred and looked up at Adam through bleary, fever-bright eyes "Addy..." he groaned and closed his eyes quickly "I..don't...feel so...good..."

"Shhhh, it's alright," Adam whispered. "I'm gonna get a doctor in here to take a look at you." He leaned over and pressed the nurse call button and waited.

Jay weakly nodded, all too glad to simply rest against Adam's body. It was getting hot, so hot he was starting to feel sleepy....

"I'm gonna...sleep some more..." the blonde murmured, voice starting to trail away "I'm tired."

"Jay, I don't think that's a good idea right now baby," Adam replied.

"No sleep?" Jay whispered, one eye barely sliding open to look up at him "Why?"

"Not just yet Jay, I want a doctor to look you over first so I know you'll be okay if you do fall asleep," Adam said.

"Alright...." Jay murmured, moaning softly "My head hurts..."

"Shhh, it's alright, I'm sure they'll give you something for it," Adam replied.

Jay whimpered softly and clung a little tighter to Adam when a doctor came in to examine him.

"It's alright Jay, he's not going to hurt you," Adam said soothingly. "I'm right here, I won't let him hurt you."

The doctor was patiently trying to ease Jay away from Adam so he could look him over but the younger blonde wasn't having it "Stop it...." he whimpered, clinging to his lover as tightly as he could "Don't touch me!"

"Baby, calm down," Adam murmured. "It's alright, I'm not going anywhere, but you need to let him look you over okay?"

After a few minutes, Jay complied and let the doctor move him to the empty bed that was beside Adam's, but one hand kept a death grip on his lover's

"Don't let go..." he whispered, sounding incredibly weak "I need to feel you..."

"I won't baby," Adam said, giving Jay's hand a light squeeze.

The doctor's assessment wasn't good: Jay did indeed have what had nearly killed Adam. It was still in the early stages, but even with antibiotics entering his system, things were going to get a whole lot worse before they got better. At the moment, Jay's temperature was 103.8, but it was still climbing.

"Addy..." Jay moaned weakly, completely drenched in sweat "Addy it's so hot...."

"I know, I know," Adam whispered. "but it's gonna be okay."

"Am I dying?" Jay whispered, too weak even open his eyes "I feel like I am..."

"No Jay, you're not dying." Adam said. "You know I couldn't let you leave me."

"Could..you..hold...me?" Jay's voice was barely audible and he was beginning to tremble from chills "Please Addy?"

Adam didn't even have to think before he found himself climbing out of his own bed and into Jay's. "Better now?" he asked as he pulled the younger man close.

"Mmmhmmm" The feeling of Adam's arms around him was making Jay incredibly sleepy "Addy..." his voice was soft "Is it okay for me to sleep now?"

Adam nodded. "Go ahead baby, I'm not going anywhere."
